About Future Typo
Infinite Design across Form, Space, and Experience.
Future Typo is a long-term practice-based design research platform investigating how typography can evolve beyond the static page into motion, structure, object, space, and experience.
Founded by Jan Tomas, the project originates from experimental typefaces developed for digital media since 1996. These early explorations evolved into a distinct design language in which typography is treated not only as a readable sign, but as a dynamic visual system that can transform, rotate, unfold, respond, and occupy space.
Future Typo develops this research through animated typography, 3D form, digital sculpture, spatial composition, material studies, interaction, and emerging technologies. Each work begins with a letter or typographic structure and explores how it can move between recognition and abstraction while retaining a relationship to language.
The practice extends across digital art, visual identities, immersive environments, spatial branding, collectible design, product concepts, publishing, and physical installations. Across these different contexts, typography becomes a system that moves through media, scale, material, and space.
Letters are not only signs to be read. They are forms through which we imagine, remember, and communicate. Future Typo explores this deeper relationship between typography, perception, memory, and human experience.
At the centre of Future Typo is a simple question:
How can typography move beyond reading and become an experience of form, motion, space, and perception?
Each creation becomes a typographic gesture captured in transformation, redefining how language can be seen, felt, and experienced.
Typography here is not only visual.

Typefaces
At the core of Future Typo is a series of custom-designed alphabets created for motion, space, and digital environments. Some of these typefaces have been published by Linotype and Monotype, forming the foundation of the project’s evolving visual language.
About the Founder
Future Typo was founded by Jan Tomas, an internationally awarded designer, creative director, typographer, and motion designer with over 25 years of experience. His work bridges conceptual thinking and advanced technologies across typography, visual communication, branding, and motion.
All works presented are authored by Jan Tomas. All intellectual property rights are held by Future Typo s.r.o., unless stated otherwise. All content has been created independently of any current or previous academic employment.
